Volunteer Montgomery

Volunteer opportunities include assisting area non-profit organizations, visiting nursing homes, bake sales and specialized events throughout the year.

Volunteer time commitment is up to each individual and their availability. Volunteers must be willing to serve without compensation. Minors (under 18 years of age) must have a parent/guardian accompany them on all Volunteer Montgomery activities. Parent/guardian must also complete a Volunteer Enrollment Application.

We are encouraging volunteers of all ages to join us Tuesday, July 30 from 6-8 pm to chalk up the parking lot of the Montgomery County Government Center. We will draw pictures, inspiring messages, and quotes to spread positivity to the community. Registration for this event is REQUIRED, please call, text, or email the VM office if you would like to help.

Volunteer Montgomery is seeking participants for its Chili Cook-Off fundraising event! The event takes place on Oct. 19, at 10 am, at the Montgomery County Government Center. Early Entry Fee: $5 (Register by Aug. 1). Regular Entry Fee: $10 (Register by Sep. 1). To register, call 540-382-5775 or email volunteermontgomery@montgomerycountyva.gov

Health District Community Garden – Volunteers are needed to water and maintain our two raised garden plots. Vegetables will be stored at the Volunteer Montgomery office and donated to persons in need. Water and other supplies are available onsite at the Community Garden. If you would like to help with the upkeep, please contact our office to be scheduled.
The Salvation Army Supply Drive – Throughout the month of July, we are collecting the following supplies to support the mission of the Salvation Army: Tuna (flip top cans OR pouches), any type of flip top cans of meat, pasta, pasta sauce, and cereal. Donations can be dropped off at our office during regular business hours, M-F from 8:30 am to 5 pm.
Designer Handbag Collection – Volunteer Montgomery is making plans for a Designer Handbag Auction later this year! To prepare, we are accepting donations of new and gently used designer purses whose original value exceeded $100 for the auction. Donations can be dropped off at our office during business hours (M-F, 8:30 am – 5 pm). Please note that any purses showing significant wear or do not meet the required retail value will not be accepted for this particular event.
